I’ve written for both print and online publications across the world. Sometimes I write under my own byline; other times I serve as a ghostwriter. What follows is a sample of my work.
Oklahoma Nurse: Utilizing De-Escalation Techniques to Maintain Safety for Staff & Patients
The medical setting from hospitals to clinics can be an emotionally charged one, which means nurses can be placed in volatile situations when dealing with upset or confused patients and their family members. Just about every nursing setting can experience aggression in one form or another. Trauma, pain, fear, and confusion can cause patients and their family members to become agitated and combative.
Oklahoma Nurse: Active TB vs Latent TB
TB is caused by the bacterium called mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is still considered a worldwide pandemic. In 2022, 10.6 million people became ill with tuberculosis worldwide. (WHO, 2023) That includes 1.3 million children. About 30% of the people who become sick with TB go undiagnosed and untreated.
Oklahoma Nurse: Nurse Entrepreneurs
In the field of health care, there are many exciting and interesting work opportunities nurses can choose from, such as cardiology, oncology, or ICU. Nurses can also work in different settings, such as hospitals, and clinics, on helicopters, or even traveling worldwide. However, throughout the years, nurses have combined their experience and health care knowledge with their vision and passion and have successfully started their own businesses.
Oklahoma Nurse: Prioritizing Self-care
Burnout and compassion fatigue are two significant issues nurses face today due to many external factors they feel powerless against. We are expected to take on more patients than we can handle. We take care of their needs and often their family’s needs, chart everything we do, answer every call light or phone call quickly, rarely eat lunch, or have time to use the bathroom. While our nursing leaders and associations rally for safer nurse-to patient ratios and better resources, one thing we can do to help alleviate some of the burnout and fatigue in our lives is to prioritize our self care.
Harley’s Herald: Importance of Annual Exams
Maintaining your pet’s annual checkups and vaccination schedule is imperative to ensure your pet lives a long, healthy, and happy life. Routine yearly exams establish your pet’s baseline, allowing your veterinarian to monitor deviations from your pet’s norm. Also, keeping your pet up to date on vaccinations can significantly reduce the risk of serious illness in your pet.
Harley’s Herald: The Financial & Emotional Cost of Cancer
Your best four-legged friend has cancer, and your mind begins to race with so many questions. How much longer does my pet have to live? Will they suffer or be in pain? Is there a treatment or cure, and what will be the cost? What exactly is the price of cancer, both financially and emotionally?
